Dodos Are Amazing

The Dodos make nice post-barbeque music. When you are ready to parade barefoot around your backyard with a full tummy or to admire the sunset, its Dodo time. Most of their songs are crafted with unexpectedly clever drums and folky acoustic guitar. Their namesake – a bird that became extinct because it couldn’t fly – parallels the same feelings of poignancy/nostalgia that their music evokes. “Undeclared” is about undeclared love, “Winter” is about failed love, and “Horny Hippies” (despite whatever the title may suggest) is about feared love. There are in infinite number of ways to describe love, and The Dodos do it through quirky acoustics and oddly charming lyrics (“I like the way you hold your head/If your brother knew, he'd have my head/But I wouldn't care if I was dead/If I had the chance to hold your hand/But my love goes undeclared”). We may not be able to bring dodos out of extinction, but let us celebrate their spirit in the form of this delightful indie/folk band.
