Islands are Good

Upon the tragic demise of indie super-group “The Unicorns,” one lonely unicorn, Nicholas Thorburn, rose from the ashes and formed “Islands.” Departing from the raw, more guitar driven style of the The Unicorns, Islands is more representative of the polished/danceable style that dominates indie music nowadays. “Creeper,” the single from their newest alum, Arm’s Way, can be interpreted as a song about a hit and run love fling or a serial killer – both classic themes. Either way, the song makes me want to shimmy. Specifically during the chorus, when Thorburn sings about the “Creeper” breaking through his window. Fun Fact: At the end of their live shows, Islands has been known to lead their audience outside in a pied-piper-like procession. Pied-piper, stalkers, shimmying - Yay or Nay? I say Yay.
