The Kills Gonna Kill You

To put it simply, this band makes me want to get down. Comprised of the fiendishly trendy Alison “VV” Mosshart and Jamie “Hotel” Hince, The Kills pack the punch of entire hipster army. The essence of The Kills is summed up at the beginning of their single, “Cheap and Cheerful,” when VV is clearly coughing up either flem or cigarette ashes. Despite all the negative connotations associated with coughing, VV still manages to make this cough sexy. The Kills visibly look like dirty people, and when their appearance is coupled with their hip/danceable music, they acquire a “so dirty its cool” appeal. “Cheap and Cheerful” is straight up about being a crazy badass – “I'm sick of social graces /Show your sharp-tipped teeth/Lose your cool in public/Dig illegal meat.” I don’t know what kind of “illegal meat” VV is talking about, but I dig it nonetheless.
