Lightspeed Champion (a.k.a. Devonte Hynes) is hip to the groove. His fashion beats your fashion. His hipsterness slaps your hipsterness. Twice. Hynes was a member of Test Icicles, the deadbeat dads of new rave (they broke up because they didn’t like the genre of music they had created). As a solo artist, Hynes significantly departs from his edgy/danceable Test Icicles roots. Most noticeably, he is a minimalist, preferring acoustic guitar to electric and crooning tender harmonies/melodies as opposed to the Test Icicles pseudo-yelling. Hipster folk music. Can you dig it?
