LOOKOUT: MUST HEAR UPON SIGHT

For an album centered on singer Kevin Barnes' alter-ego, the "black she-male" that is Georgie Fruit, of Montreal delivers exactly what was promised: for an overwhelming fifteen all-over-the-place tracks, Barnes and his band relays a countless number of sexually explicit images, all backed by a dance party beat.

"Id Engager," the closing track of the album that is entirely too reminiscent of the 70s, opens up with a disco beat before breaking out in a chorus of "Can't help it if it's true/Don't wanna be your man/ Just wanna play with you," and in the hand-clapping "For Our Elegant Caste," Barnes sings, "We can do it soft core if you want/ But you should know I take it both ways."

Does this freak you out? Don't worry—it freaks out Kevin Barnes, too. All of the lyrics in "Touched Something's Hollow" seem to revolve around his "damaged" and "poisoned" personality: "I don't know how long I can hold on/ If it's gonna be like this forever," he sings. I don't know about Barnes, but as long as he keeps his kaleidoscope dance jams coming, I could probably hold on for a lot longer.
