Jon Brion is the man. He’s the maestro behind the soundtracks for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love, I Heart Huckabess and producer extraordinaire for the likes of Kanye West, Fiona Apple, and Aimee Mann. “Theme” is the main song from Eternal Sunshine and it sounds exactly like he opened several teenagers and recorded their lovesick emotions. As a multi-instrumentalist, Brion uses many unexpected instruments – xylophone, bells, horns, etc. – that get me all sorts of giddy and make his music feel fresh and minty.
